Science should have the last word
This is what I came across while surfing the google...
I don’t know what that article meant- I did not read it- but this line immediately caught my attention, or rather... my fascination.
SCIENCE.. it seems to me the one-word answer to even the labyrinthine questions. The pragmatic conclusion to the unthinkable happenings in our surroundings is given by it. A couple of weeks ago we saw the super blue moon eclipse— only the scientific reason of the earth coming in between the sun and the moon could rule out the belief of a bad omen prevalent in so many parts of the world..
If the ancient mariner had known science, there could be no reason why the fluorescent light of those benign creatures could be comprehended has sign of the coming of evil.
How the earth is held up in space? Some believe is balanced upon an endless tower of turtles while some say it is held up by a giant snake! But listen to what the science says: it is only due to the forces-like the gravitational force- acting between the bodies in space that actually holds these celestial objects in a particular position (as simple as that! ). From simple questions like how we walk, to the most enigmatic things like how one tends to think in a particular way... all can be answered by science— and no one can question that— it’s crystal clear.
This train of thoughts slowly halted at the station with the sign board saying..
Indeed, science must always have the last word!
I'd only partly agree. Science may have the last word. But what science says, may not always BE the last word.
ReplyDeleteScience, I think, involves an attempt to explain what we observe on the basis of what we know. Ancient myths were similar attempts. Problem comes when we consider the accepted notion as the 'last word' and resist any contradicting opinion.
So called scientific views have also evolved / been proven erroneous. As our knowledge grows (we still know so little), we are bound to have newer / better world views. More than a 'scientific answer' we should uphold scientific approach.
