Infinite Things.... to my teachers!

There are infinite things I want to tell you, Infinite experiences, I would like to share Because I know- whatever I feel, that, you’ll always care There are boundless emotions I have And also hundreds of opinions Sometimes, I just feel that the time’s too less, To get all that to your heart’s dominion When I smile,  I always wait for your smile again That little happiness, sometimes, Soothes any kind of pain Whenever you give me any task I don’t know why I always like to do I think it’s sometimes all because of The confidence I have in you I sometimes like to speak a lot, And you listen with all patience And, when you also speak your mind I, I just feel quite a gratification I feel bad when I think of not meeting you So sometimes I just stop thinking But now as I realise this  I promise, I’ll keep in touch with you every blink Yes, it sounds a lot like a farewell,  But this day I've realised some facts So,...

Dear "future me"...

Dear future me I know you are me.. but still fear you don’t know me. I have some really important things to share with you. I always hope to meet you soon, but it always seems a long time before we meet. It's okay sometimes to wait, but that fear makes the waiting seem impossible. I must be frank- I really don’t want to meet you... not because I hate you ( I won’t dare hate myself), it’s because I am afraid I would always be better than you. I know what I am, but how will I ensure that you know what I am like? I am writing only due to this reason. Listen, whatever happens, you will never, ever disbelieve in trust. Never disbelieve in me, never disbelieve in yourself. The world might be really very good, but I am the best, yes, you are the best.  I might sometimes criticise you, but please don't mind me- I always mean well! I am not a person with whom one would always like to be a friend.. but the one who truly knows me well, in future, truly be your friend. ...

We work for ourselves, but you work for us...

Image
The ant collects its own food The trees grow their own roots In this world,  There are only a few, who don’t work for themselves, but help others find their routes.. This is what makes you, our teachers, super-beings, Who think about us and take care of our every little thing  You sometimes might seem harsh and strict, But we know you still do it for our best, and we can’t express it through our  childish instincts! We know you’ve spent nights awake, for us, We know you’ve worked in the vacations, for us And we know you ignore all your problems  so that we have our lessons, without any fuss We know the love you have for us, The same we have for you No matter we say this or not, you will always be guiding us, our whole life through  That smile on your face, those beaming, loving eyes, are always a comforting sight Whatever problems we may face, with you, we are sure, it’ll always be alright! These words are just a sp...

The Old Banyan Tree

The old banyan tree has seen everything. The older he grows, the more he has to say (you won't hear him, neither would I- You know, it is commonly only the younger soul that has the tendency to let the world know what it knows. The older it gets, that world seems to squeeze into that little heart, which is much more satisfied by silence, than any external sound.) The old tree stays there. He has developed strong roots with its place of origin, and so many of them, that it's impossible to uproot it from there. He has seen life; he has experienced life. He has, I believe, understood life more than anyone else...for that kind of patience can't be seen in any human ever born. Countless number of times he has seen his leaves turning brown and crumpling away, leaving the tree bare- shivering with cold and hoping for them to return someday. Then that day comes too. He starts again, he nurtures every single leaf into the green beauty. The leaves also in turn adorn the tree and ple...

Independence = In(ter)dependence

This August 15, we will be celebrating our 72nd Independence Day. We celebrate this day in order to remind ourselves, time and again, the way India struggled to finally get independence from the British. But we mustn’t misunderstand this word, independence - never. It’s often seen that this word independence actually cannot stand independently at all! Yes! The whole universe is connected. we fail to understand that Nature cannot tolerate anyone or anything to be completely independent-well, it’s not possible. And, if ever one tries to be completely independent, one is implicitly over-depending on oneself. We must accept that the world exists as an amalgamation of the thoughts and actions of every single person living on this planet. Though India has gained independence, it is nothing without other countries- we all are interdependent. Let there be no reason to over-priding our own existence and underestimating that of others. We must be independent in our thoughts and actions, bu...

HAPPY FATHERS' DAY!

Image
When I was very small I remember… How you pulled my cheeks And showed your love so tender In evenings it was sitting  On your shoulders I discovered the streets And how we talked about places of wonder I remember once how I  Cried for a sweet at midnight And you, you immediately Bought me that for my heart’s delight! I never need to ask for anything You always know what I want  You are the dad of who  I can always flaunt! I always look upto you If ever I feel low I’ll never forget those handful of almonds and your words Before my exam “blows” Till now since I was one You’ve been always happy and calm Whatever situation you may face You’ve always taught me to be the positive one! Your dear hug And that loving smile Is the most comforting thing I will ever find I thank you so much On this fathers day I wish we always keep smiling, And all happiness comes your way!

Education can't be the Same!

Image
I spent my last month on an exchange trip to Hungary. My experience is really difficult to be rightly described....so great it was! Getting acquainted with a different culture, different kinds of people and a new schooling system! Yes, the schools! If you think you know what schools are, you might want to wipe that smoke off your specs, because, education all around the globe is very different-- very, very different! Schools are not the same in Hungary. On my first day there, I quite felt like I was in I don't know... but honestly, not in a school! Students standing on tables, playing pop songs in their phones and sandwiches and cola-bottles-- as big as missiles-- seated proudly on the desks. It is not at all like the schools you see in India. An empty classroom might look like one, but not with the students! Few students "like" school. Some students might be exceptionally good at some subjects, but most don't like any particular academic subject. But then,...

The ONLY Way?

Hope for the Flowers (pdf) "What happens when a caterpillar makes a cocoon?" my father asked. "Umm.. Metamorphosis. Yes, that is what it is called. It turns into a butterfly! We've been studying this since Grade 2! " "But are you aware, not all of them actually become that fluttering creature. Many just die without realising that they can actually become a butterfly."and he read me out a book. The book 'Hope for the Flowers' by Trina Paulus tells the tale of Stripe, a caterpillar and his journey towards becoming a butterfly. An inspirational book, guiding us, the caterpillars towards becoming a butterfly. I wondered 'bout the world There is somethin' more to see Whatever I see around  Doesn't seem what is really wanted by me Yes, it seems so fascinating That place, the crowd is heading to where I don't now what is at the end.... But, everyone says it must be good  So, I will follow, and t...

Licking The Leak

Image
I was out, after exams were (at least, till then) over... when my phone rang. After a dead tiring and and seemingly never-ending round of tests, exams and continuous night-parties with my textbook friends, that day was kinda paradise for me. Yes, then I picked up my phone and it was my Mom. "Yes...Mumma?" "Ah.. Riddhi, your Maths paper was leaked. CBSE says you'll need give a re-test." The salsa flavoured nacho chip fell from my hand and I said, " What!... Umm.. Okay." I know that is not the expected reply, but yes, that is what I felt like! For the past two weeks, the newspapers had become "leak times" and the Google was feeding me only with "leak updates"... There was now nothing unusual in it. This leaking business has become so much prevalent that I couldn't help laughing at my situation. Okay, take another test, but please, be careful this time, we won't give another one then. Education shouldn't be di...

Waiting...

Waiting, waiting and waiting It seemed ev’thing was still The wind had stopped to blow  The time was as motionless as a hill The only things that moved  Were those hands of clock They say that time flies But that also then... had become a statue of rock My eyes were desperate To see something happening  My tongue tingling to speak But to whom will it be uttering? I suddenly moved my eyes To the corner of the room And found something fascinating  And new thoughts it started to loom A line of ants All crawling one behind the other What was silent world for me Was, for them seemingly inconsequential  I saw, they had their own world Much smaller though But enough for Them to know Then again I moved my head And looked down... In the form of a shadow A friend I found I moved my hand And so did she And I happily realised  How much fun these trifles can be! I nodded my head and She ...

हिंदी Vs English

Flipping through the language books, revising for my boards one evening, I came upon a thought—what if हिंदी and English met each other... Fair and young  With a jewelled crown Came she from somewhere, I think from some far-off town               “ पर यहाँ कैसे कोई और आए               यहाँ तो सिर्फ़ मेरा ही परचम लहराए               यहाँ तुम्हें कोई जानता नहीं                 चले जाओ , होगा वही सही ” “ Excuse me..  I’ve come from far-away west I was born of Anglo-Saxon,  brought up by German, caressed by Roman And now, I’ve come to rule the world, the rest “                         पुरखें तो हमारे भी कम नहीं                        संस्कृत ह...

Science should have the last word This is what I came across while surfing the google... I don’t know what that article meant- I did not read it- but this line immediately caught my attention, or rather... my fascination.  SCIENCE.. it seems to me the one-word answer to even the labyrinthine questions. The pragmatic conclusion to the unthinkable happenings in our surroundings is given by it. A couple of weeks ago we saw the super blue moon eclipse— only the scientific reason of the earth coming in between the sun and the moon could rule out the belief of a bad omen prevalent in so many parts of the world.. If the ancient mariner had known science, there could be no reason why the fluorescent light of those benign creatures could be comprehended has sign of the coming of evil.   How the earth is held up in space? Some believe is balanced upon an endless tower of turtles while some say it...

CREATION

The bright sunshine With its yellowish rays, Coming from there, Far above, kissing my face  That just brought  My mind to motion To think about.. The world...the creation! There was a time when  Nothing was there  No earth, no moon, No anything we’d care The Big Bang was that  loud roar The secrets of all life forms  It bore Again, I looked  out of the window.. I saw the roads, high-rise buildings .. the humankind’s grand show! I suddenly realised  That then too, All this grandeur i s so minuscule—  as compared to the universe’s size! We are just like some Pieces of toys Arranged by the nature.. For it to enjoy This world started with The rivers and the mountain-kings, In whose blessings were born, The beings It was that delightful  mixture of Light and snow That made this faded world, glow Life began And started showing its worth All thankful for the life To the dear Mother Earth  From the c...
